Hello,

after installing IFolder on a OpenSuse 11.3 (64-bit) linux, we have some weird problems concerning login and passwords. With some username/password combinations we can successfully log in while others don't work. After trying a lot of combinations the most obvious symptom is that we cannot use a simias password with more than seven characters.

This is what we did in our tests:

- We installed iFolder, using the

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/ifolder:/server_stable/openSUSE_11.3/

repository. (ifolder3-enterprise-3.8.0.10191.1-5.1.x86_64.rpm)

- We ran "simias-server-setup" and configured simias without LDAP database.

- To test the admin password, we use a web browser to visit https://<myserver>/simias10.

The browsers opens a window to authenticate - we use admin/<password>

- If the password has more than 7 characters the password is not accepted.

- To change the password, we delete the "FlaimSimias.db" file and run simias-server-setup again

(without deleting FlaimSimias.db the password change is not successful )

- If the new password has less then eight characters, the browser accepts admin/<shortpassword>

at https://<myserver>/simias10 and shows an 404 error page, as expected.

- In addition, when we create users, they all can login from different browsers but cannot (with one exception) establish a connection from the iFolder clients 3.8.0.0: The message is "The username or password is invalid ..."! (Windows and Linux).

- It is also not possible to change a clients password after an successful login via browswer: The message is like "The password could not be changed, the Password coud not be resetted."

On an older 32-bit test installation on a OpenSuse 11.2 Linux an admin password with more than 7 characters works fine. We also can login from any client and everything works fine.

Is there a bug in the 64-bit version that prevents longer passwords or is this a general regression? Is there already a workaround/patch to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance,

yours sincerely thomas schaefer
